Radio Universidad of Puerto Rico (WRTU 89.7 FM, San Juan and 88.3 FM, Mayagüez) is a network of educational stations located at the Río Piedras and Mayagüez campuses of the University of Puerto Rico. Established on February 8, 1980, it is affiliated with the Faculty of Communication and Information. Our facilities include radio, television, and film units, serving as a practical center for future communication professionals. Radio Universidad is committed to providing high-quality cultural and educational programming that embraces diversity and moves away from commercial radio approaches. We broadcast 168 hours of programming weekly, 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Our content includes local productions, international services, exchanges, and community and public service programs. Programs are available in Spanish, English, and French.

Our musical segments, which make up 75% of our weekly programming, cover traditional and modern expressions from all over the world. At Radio Universidad, you can enjoy a variety of music genres including native Puerto Rican music, Arab, African, Brazilian, jazz, classical music, tango, bolero, nueva trova, hip-hop, and rock. Our shows are hosted by experts who blend skillful music selection with insightful commentary. Radio Universidad is unique in its offering; you can hear everything from a Beethoven symphony to hard salsa from the 1970s, Argentine milongas amid electronic textures, a Hollywood epic movie overture, a choir performing J.S. Bach with jazz phrasing, and a bolero by Sylvia Rexach mixed with plena.
